Tanzanite is a beautiful violet blue stone and one of the most modern gemstones only being found in 1967 in Tanzania by Ali Juuyawatu. It was named by Tiffany after its country of origin and was added as a December birthstone in 2002 this was the first change to the Birthstone list in almost 100 years. It has associations with renewal and change.
