Garnets are known for their dark red colour and the name comes from the Latin word ‘granatum’ meaning pomegranate as it was said to represent the dark red seeds inside. Garnet is one of the oldest protective stones in history and has been called the ‘warrior stone’ by soldiers wearing them as amulets for protection and strength.
